Who you are

We’re looking for a senior backend software engineer with experience building infrastructure for real-time applications, and a deep understanding of both backend and frontend technologies. You are familiar with the concept of a sync engine (a persistent buffer between the frontend and the backend), and have a strong grasp of data consistency and offline-first architecture. Ideally, you have experience working on productivity tools, messaging platforms, or other real-time applications. And, you have prior startup experience, ideally the Seed to Series B stage. You have strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken. And, you’ll be working remotely, aligned with Taiwan Standard Time (GMT+8).

You will

• Play a critical role in the development of our product
• Build and ship new features such as spam detection and filters, and develop an Electron app
• Expand functionality related to authentication, shared workspace, and settings
• Iterate our application's architecture to meaningfully improve speed and responsiveness
• Establish observability, monitoring, and alerting for our service so that we can better respond to operational incidents
• Operate as an individual contributor alongside a best-in-class software development team

You have

• Strong React, TypeScript, and Node.js fundamentals
• Experience building sync engines, CRUD systems, or components like transaction queues, consistency layers, in-memory databases (e.g. SQLite), or offline persistence
• Bonus: experience working on E2E encryption and securing infrastructure at scale
• Bonus: experience working with LLMs and OpenAI's apis
