06 Mentors Not Managers

At Tatem, we don’t have managers. Instead, we have mentors. Managers make a singular person responsible for each employee’s performance. We’re a team, and we want everyone to contribute to making our business, and our employees, successful. As a result of this monumental shift, this means that: your job is not to please your manager, you can (and should) push back if you think there is a better solution, and you are expected to provide candid feedback to your peers and mentor. Impact is worth more than seniority at Tatem. The organizational structure at many businesses follows the decisions of those with hierarchical power rather than those with the best ideas. Unlike them, we’re a meritocracy. Great ideas come from everywhere, and everyone, at Tatem.
